Indices reflecting social inequalities
This zip-code level interactive map shows the spatial distribution of publicly available indices that capture structural inequalities, such as Area Deprivation Index (ADI), AHRQ Socio-economic Status (SES), Social Vulnerability Index (SVI), and Child Opportunity Index (COI). I created this map while working as a Research Assistant with the Data Analytics Team at Abacus, Department of Social Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill. This web map was generated to help project managers and stakeholders to identify vulnerable areas across the United States and compare with the underserved communities by the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics for Underserved Populations (RADx-UP), created by the National Institutes of Health to ensure access to COVID-19 testing mainly in communities most affected by the pandemic. Learn more about the RADX-UP projects here.
